It feels like an invitation, calling forth shadows and secrets. For a writer, rainy days aren’t just weather. They’re a chance to slip between worlds, where flickering gaslight and haunted carnivals await. In that rain-soaked world, stories rise.
Harlequinade: The Carnival You Can’t Escape
Some stories linger past the final page. They settle in the bones, turning over in the mind like a ghost that refuses to rest. My upcoming book release, Harlequinade, is one of those stories.
Set in 1901, Harlequinade follows the Willetts & Parker traveling carnival. It’s a show unlike any other. Its painted wagons roll forward, filling towns with unease. Among its cursed performers is Annie, a melancholy clown who suspects something watches her. Then she discovers the truth.
Behind the scenes lurks The Harlequinade, a sinister force pulling strings and orchestrating nightmares. Brickles is a monstrous Harlequin clown who does not tolerate deserters. As the carnival tightens its grip, Annie realizes that no one quits the Willetts & Parker Show.
Annie must face the chilling truth: this carnival isn’t a spectacle. It’s a graveyard of souls, all puppets in Brickles’ undead Harlequinade. And he’s found a place for Annie in his show.
